Furry Friday: Recovery

I’ve been tyring to get rid of a terrible cough and sinus infection all week. Well let me tell you – all this breathing and coughing and coughing and sneezing and wheezing has worn me out. So tonight I plan on lying on the couch, drinking tons of tea and sorting all of the laundry I’ve putting off.

Exciting huh?

If I feel well rested tomorrow you might catch me trying tasty local food samples at Denton’s First Annual Earthwise Food Festival hosted by Earthwise Gardens. They’ll have lots of local vendors, artists, and performers hanging out and serving the community from 11-7.

I wish was joining in the fun with Denton’s Thin Line Film Fest - but I fear my giant cough would be unaccepatble to all of the doucumentary and short film watchers.

Thirsty Thursdays: London Fog

I’ve been fighting some kind of terrible sinus allergy attack this week. Its been all coughs and sniffles and hiding under blankets for me. So in lieu of giving up my daily latte and trying to go easy on the coffee, I’m indulging in a London Fog. I’ve been downing hoards of tea this week – but today it just needed to change a bit.

London Fog= early grey + steamed half and half + vanilla

And its entirely tasty and soothing.

What do you drink when you need something comforting or soothing?

There is a new wine that I am destined to love by Olivier Lemasson. It is fun and fruity and fizzy – and Joy the Baker and Brunellos Have More Fun shot an adorable commercial for it. Love love love.

Tiny Tuesday: Blocks

With all of the babies being born around here (not us… just almost all of our friends) I’ve been in need of some inspiration for shower and newborn gifts. Luckily all of our friends are pretty adorably creative – with cute home spun nurseries and plenty of precious accessories for those tiny tots. I’m the friend that generally veers from the registry (which could be terrible… but luckily I happen to be a great gift finder) and tries to find something a little more permanent or creative. These amazing lucite blocks from Reformed would make a great gift for the next shower! And I always love purchasing from a smaller vendor.

Movie Monday: The Artist

When I was little my grandmother spoiled us with old movies and ice cream sundaes – complete with maraschino cherries with the stems on top. I fell in love with old movies, Marilyn Monroe, Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, Audrey Hepburn, Jane Russell – and the magic of the musical. I wanted very badly to be a movie star and tap dancer. But I didn’t want to be a modern movie star – I wanted to be a movie star like they were in the 50′s… with the drivers and the old cars and the fur coats and the long nights of dancing and beautiful dresses. I wanted people to hand me their ‘autograph books’ and smile for the big camera with the popping bulbs. So when I saw The Artist – it was like someone had gotten into my head and knew that I wanted to BE Peppy Miller. I swooned. It was pretty much magical. So if you haven’t seen it yet – go. Go now and remember when Hollywood was simple, glamorous, and more fun.

Furry Fridays: Kitten Paws

This week has flown by. I can’t believe that February is already here. I spent half of my week preparing for a large dinner and then after that was done I was just exhausted. So needless to say I’m ready for the weekend. We are headed over to Mesquite tomorrow to see Ryan’s family. His Grandaddy’s birthday is this weekend so we’re celebrating. Sam is an amazing grandaddy. My favorite things he likes to talk about are “pickin’ ” with his bluegrass buddies and “fixin’ ” anything that lands on his workbench. He is pretty fantastic. I’m looking forward to sitting back and relaxing and just hearing family stories.

Happy Friday friends – hope your week is wrapping up well. We are throwing a couples baby shower this weekend… so the house is full of crafts and fun party things. Its the easiest shower-slash-party I’ve ever planned (I think I’ve finally figured out this delegating thing). But I think when Sunday rolls around I’ll be ready to plop on the couch and veg.
