In the spirit of Halloween I want to share this find with you – Hoxton Street Monster Supplies in London. Opened last November by the Ministry of Stories – a creative writing program – this store stocks up on all of your monster favorites.
“Welcome to East London’s premier purveyor of everyday and bespoke goods for the living, dead and undead. We stock a pharmacopoeia of different types of fear, a complete range of edible human preserves and everyday household essentials like Fang Floss and Zombie Mints. So we invite clients old and new to come and discover why we’ve been the store of choice for discerning monsters for over two hundred years, and will be the same forevermore.” -
What is pretty cool is that this is not a seasonal pop-up shop – its a part of the Ministry of Stories and is open all year long! Can you imagine walking along the street and doing a double take when you see this? I think the supplies are so clever - what a fun place!
The weather reports are saying that the temps are dropping into the 40′s this week! For Texas that is cold – especially for mid October. A little part of me is super excited. It will warm back up a little by next week, and this week of chilly weather will make it feel even more like we’re headed into fall! (Fall feelings = justification for the many pumpkins and decorative gourds around my house.) Cooler weather always makes me excited to pull out the fun scarves in my closet to put them to good use – but I was inspired by this fun video with 25 ways to wear a scarf – I always just do the same two or three things – and now I have a week full of great weather to try a few of these out.
I know its been quite awhile since I’ve posted – and part of that is simply life, and some of it was technical difficulties, and other was a need for change. I want to change the way that I function on this blog from simply food to every day life and inspiration… a large part of that is because while I love food, its not my only love. I have a deep love for good design, simple pleasures, and things that make life more fun and interesting. So thats where we’re going. In other news, the house is done for the year. (YAY!) We’ve painted walls, put in floors, ripped up floors, painted floors, painted doors, hung art work and family photos, and made it our own little space. Forgive me, because my camera lens is broken, and I just don’t have it in the budget to replace it right now – so no pictures except for the one above of my dining room. But I feel content in our sweet little space. We’re loving our neighborhood. Our neighbors wave a lot and play in the front yards and we chat in the yard and street. It feels homey. Our neighbors to the right have two little girls who play the piano beautifully, and I can sit on my back porch at night with a book and have my own concert while they practice. Its lovely. I’m enjoying the blessings that the Lord has given us at this time – trying to savor this time with Ryan and I and friends and family. Also, I’m starting to write a column for a monthly local publication – yay! Its called Little D After Dark and is an offshoot of the local newspaper the Denton Record Chronicle. I’ll be writing about food and local business owners, foodies, and Denton movers and shakers and their inspiration, food connections, and our outlook on culinary education. (Fun, right?!) Anywho, I’ll be sharing with you what I share there, and will be focusing on other fun things in life here too. I’m excited. So yesterday I got to have a photo shoot for my baking website (which will be coming soon), and also for the first Little D After Dark layout. I needed a profile picture and pictures of the recipe I’m featuring – so I had a blast and a half with some good friends the Newbys. Chris is an up and coming professional photographer, and Liand his wife is a long time close friend of mine – and I have never laughed for so many hours straight before. Chris not only does beautiful work, but has a great way of making others feel super comfortable, and Liand just brings the super fun factor that keeps you laughing till you’re about crying. So that’s whats up. I can’t wait to start blogging more, and sharing with you the things that inspire me on a daily basis. And I would love to here from you too! If there is something you would like to see more of, let me know! Keep reading – its about to get really fun in here.
